Learn To Listen To Your Body

You cannot ignore what your body is trying to tell you. Your body offers all the answers for what you feel. Do not suppress your emotions: listen to your heart and let your heart shine.

Many disorders in our body are caused by or are an indirect result of an accumulation of emotions. This is the result of prolonged suppression of your emotions. Today we have taught ourselves to be constantly alert.

However, this prevents us from really being aware of what is going on in our bodies. You have to listen to your body. This is the place where all the answers to your anxiety and worry are hidden.

Your response to that agonizing pain you feel, the thoughts you worry about are also hidden here, as well as the regrets you have or the healing process that you are not paying attention to.

For example, your digestive system is your second brain. It affects your mood without conscious control of your brain. Experts conclude that 95% of the serotonin in the body comes from the digestive system.

This is one of the many reasons why you need to develop the way you process your physical needs. The emotional world is so immense that a guide to guide you through your feelings is insufficient.

So, where do we start?

Start with the simple things:

  • If you are tired, rest
  • If you have to go to the toilet, go too
  • If you feel the need to cry, just do it!
  • Watch your reactions, your breathing and your heart. Either way, listen to your inner self.

For example, while reading these sentences, your breathing has become faster or slower. What do you feel? Or read something about gastrointestinal problems or about your menstrual cycle, for example. Does this evoke certain feelings in you?

You have to give yourself the opportunity to understand how your body is feeling and listen to it. If your legs have gone numb, you may need to stand up. Then go for a walk to get your body moving.

You must recognize and trust the inherent wisdom of your body. It is quite disheartening to see how we as humans, after years of evolution, have disconnected our feelings from our physical needs.

How do I react to my body?

You don’t even have to know exactly what’s going on in your body to be able to react to this. In other words, you don’t need to know why your heart has started beating faster, why you need to cry or why you suddenly have a stomachache.

This understanding will come after you allow yourself to feel what you feel. This process occurs simultaneously in your body and mind. That’s why it’s especially important to give yourself the chance to experience every feeling that comes to mind.

Body

Once you experience the discomfort, fear, or any other feeling, it will be much less complicated to understand this feeling.

Close your eyes and allow yourself a moment to reflect on what has happened in the past few hours or the past few days. This will surely give you a clue as to why certain symptoms are occurring.

The Fundamental Pillar of Healing

If you don’t face the first message your body wants to give you, the second message will strike you like lightning. Feelings and emotions are meant to help you live consciously, to be part of your own life experiences, and to learn to rely on your bodily wisdom.

You could say that you have disconnected yourself over time. You have undermined your ability to perceive yourself. Because of this, you have ended up feeling like you are constantly in an emergency situation that needs your immediate attention.

As a result, you put off the things that really matter, such as taking care of your pain or your emotions. This will cause your body to speak louder and louder to get your attention. Of course, this can ultimately have much more serious consequences for your health.

Sorrow and pain, your great allies

We have taught ourselves to think that we should always be in a good mood, that we should always feel good about life. And yet we are still unable to understand what is really important: feeling.

You should not put aside or undervalue your sadness or pain. These are two of the greatest teachers our nature offers us to help us survive and develop.

Denying or ignoring these emotions is a cultural response that has been imposed on us over the years. For example, you never learned that you have an inherent ability to look pain straight in the eye. Your body no longer knows how to do this.

In reality, crying is just another way of directing your energy and understanding your body. That’s why you shouldn’t hold back your tears either.

Don’t deny any longer

It’s interesting to see how we’ve taught ourselves to deny the need for our emotional expression. We are more likely to reach for medicines or to exercise, for example, so as not to face our emotions.

  • By doing this, we are avoiding our tears. The substances that would encourage our tear production are inhibited by the sought-after distraction.
  • For example, tears of sorrow and tears of happiness consist of different substances than tears of happiness. Also, they are induced by different hormones, as well as for different reasons.
  • It’s important to just let those tears flow when your body asks. This outlet exists for a reason!

When you give yourself permission to release these emotions, your body and soul will feel cleaner. Both happiness and sadness help to process life. This will create mental clarity.

Often people realize too late what could have been done differently or how they could have acted better at a certain moment.

The pain that ends pain

We often think that a life of effort and sacrifice deserves more credit than a life of happiness. It sounds very loud when you say it like that. That’s why you should also think about the pressure you put on yourself.

The truth is that the only path to emotional freedom will only reveal itself when you are able to perceive a process that you have been hiding for years.

In order to do this, you will need to lighten your emotional burden a bit. You need to take a step toward a new attitude that will help you develop healthier emotional processing methods for yourself.

Or rather:  the most important thing is that you no longer run from what is going on in your body. Empower yourself to fix things instead of burying them any longer.
